Change is coming
Whether you purchase a brand new house or a pre-owned one, it takes a long time to make that house your “own.” Putting your “fingerprints” on the house takes thought, time, effort, and finances.
My husband and I made a big move, from Southern California to almost-Northern California (Coarsegold, CA, near Yosemite National Park), in the summer of 2014. We love the house. The floor plan is absolutely perfect for us. The views we have of the Sierra Mountains are stunning. The acreage gives a sense of freedom. But the floors are another story.
We purchased the house from a couple with rather eclectic tastes. There’s nothing wrong with that. (I’m rather like that myself!) Except when it comes to flooring. In our house, we have 9 different types of flooring. Nine! It drives me crazy.
So we are starting renovation. It will take a while, and we are starting small. New flooring for 3 rooms; my office, my craft room, and our small gym. You know.. that office and craft room I finally just got fully settled in 4-5 months ago? (DIY: Plank Wall, DIY: Door Desk).
The right work-flow is important to me. It’s taken a long time to fine-tune the rooms to be exactly what I want and need them to be: my furniture, supplies, equipment. Today I will be moving everything out of those 3 rooms in preparation for our flooring contractor, who will begin work Monday.
I’m afraid I will forget the “perfect” spot I had for everything, so I am taking pictures. Pictures of cabinets, shelves, drawers… And just so I don’t forget… the floor. Here 3 different floors collide with each other. Like I said. It drives me crazy.

Oh, my! Reminds me of the house we bought with an orange bathroom….not just the walls, but the tub, sink and john were also painted orange. Amazing what some folks can do to a space.
This would drive me nuts tooo! I’m OCD for everything to match! Good luck with your “little” project! Hugs, DeLoris
Can’t wait to see your new pictures!
That would drive me crazy too. Good luck with your project and would like to see new pictures once you are finished.
