Monday Inspiration by Beatrice: Apple of My Eye II

September 18, 2017

It’s Monday and I’m so happy to be back on the blog with more inspiration using SnickerdoodleDesigns’ latest collection Apple of My Eye. There are so many lovely projects using this collection I’m thankful to have the opportunity to showcase just a few more.

It’s apple season in Michigan, my state, and I cannot wait to head to the orchard to snap a few or too many photos and preserve the memory using this amazing collection. The word bits in the collection are so versatile and could be utilized in almost any situation whether featuring apples or not.

I love the large photo in Apple Pickin’ Time by kabra. The lacy, burlap ribbon picks up the texture in both the burlap frame and flower. I like the little bit of gold bordering the framing which adds just a touch of sparkle. The large clusters along both the bottom in in the top corner bring the eye directly into the photo. Keeping the embellishments large works well with the scale of the photo.

I like the large blended photo in Apple of My Eye by zanthia. Adding the smaller, framed photo on top is one of my favorite design tricks. I like the way she kept the tree small and added it as a foundation for both the small photo and her gorgeous cluster. The tucked word bit serves as her title and one of the cute mice draws the eye directly there.

I really like the photo treatment in In the Orchard by franlk.  The masking is outstanding and I like the way the artist tilted and tucked the frame both behind and in front of the masked photos. The diagonal cluster is perfectly shadowed and I love the orange bow she placed on top. Finally she finished her page off by using one of the word bits as her title.

I like the clever page design in My Little Muffin by ozegirl. Combing squares and circles always makes for an appealing page. I admire the way she created her own circle frame by cropping one of the papers and combining it with the circle word art. I also like the way she used the fence as a border across the bottom of the page and contrasted it with the vertical ribbons and paper pieces down the left hand side. Her word bit is artfully placed in the perfect empty spot.

I love the photo treatment in Sweetness by Norma. I like the soft, dreamy colors of the background paper she chose. It works perfectly with the bright, saturated colors of the photo. The parallel clusters curve in just the right way to frame the photo and the brown ribbon ties them together. The brushwork adds a delicate touch and again she used the word bit to complete her page.

Fall is almost here and these pages have set the scene, at least for me. I hope you feel inspired to create your own pages.  Thanks and have a great week.
