What is YOUR “Lay’s Potato Chip?”

Most of us probably know the tag line for Lay’s Potato Chips…..”Bet you can’t eat just one!”

To me the tag line “Bet you can’t eat just one” means more than what it says. To me it means “Bet-you -can’t-eat-just-one-and-that-you-will-eat-so-many-you-will-feel-sick.”

My favorite Lay’s chips are the Cheddar and Sour Cream.  I do eat more than one, but I also have the ability to stop when I want.

What I canNOT stop eating, once I start, is Coconut Pecan Cookies from the local bakery. I love chewy cookies. The coconut and pecans in these cookies give me all the chewiness I “need.” Even though there are chewy ingredients, the cookies just seem to melt in my mouth.  I truly cannot eat just one.

So the answer to this problem would be to just avoid the bakery, right?

But the bakery is in the local grocery store, which also has an amazing deli department, and they make the best sandwiches and grilled burgers there. So if my husband and I want a quick meal out, we will often drop in the deli for a burger or sandwich. Which means we HAVE to pick up a pack of the cookies. I mean, they are RIGHT THERE and you can usually smell the cookies being baked. Once we were there when the Coconut Pecan cookies were coming right out of the oven….. Ahhhhh….. Yum.

So this all got me thinking….. what is it that is a”Lay’s Potato Chip” to other people? What is YOUR “Lay’s Potato Chip?”  What is it that YOU cannot stop eating once you get started?  I seriously want to know because I’ve got a problem now.

This morning I trotted over to the bakery to buy some of the Coconut Pecan cookies. I wanted to photograph one of these yummy goodies for today’s blog post.  To my horror, the baker told me that they had just discontinued the Coconut Pecan cookies.  She told me she knew I was going to be disappointed…. uh, yeah! Not only did I not have a cookie to photograph, the thought of no more Coconut Pecan cookies was enough to just about ruin my day.  I even asked if she had just ONE sitting around somewhere. Nope. No luck.

So here is a photograph of one of their Oatmeal Raisin cookies.  This is my husband’s “Lay’s Chip.”

So again I ask… what is YOURS?

(And if you have a recipe for The Best Coconut Pecan Cookies Ever, please send it my way!)

You KNOW me and you KNOW it isn’t sweets for me. I make this ramped up version of chex mix that most wouldn’t like. It’s super spicy and has a lot more stuff than cereal and pretzels. Lately though, I’ve been on the receiving end of fresh jalapeno and Serrano peppers from our neighbors garden. My chip right now is baked jalapeno poppers. Not for you with your super taster self but we’re loving it!

LOL! No, not for me… I don’t “do” hot, spicy, and yeah, that Super Taster thing kicks in too. But our son would LOVE that!!! The hotter the better for him!

Stouffer’s Animal Crackers can get the best of me sometimes. The ones that are plump. Others just aren’t the same.

Freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for me. It’s that smell, and the gooey chips and chewy brown sugar goodness and …. Now I want some!

Bluebell makes three different kinds of vanilla ice cream, along with many other varieties. My favorite is their Homestyle Vanilla ice cream. So very sinful. Evil. ….. because it tastes like the ice cream we used to make on our dairy farm years ago.
