Monday Inspiration by Beatrice: The Long Road Home
SnickerdoodleDesigns has started something NEW on her Facebook Page!
Go to Karen’s Facebook page, and click on “Start Right Here.”
Each month Karen will be featuring several kits, with special pricing. This month there are four kits featured: Winter Wonderland, Pumpkin Patch, Painted Autumn and The Long Road Home Collection which is a collaboration with ADB Designs. The November features are priced at anywhere from 25% to 75% off. Be certain to check the expiration dates since they vary based on the kit or collection. While these kits may be available at all of Snickerdoodle Designs’ shops, the best prices are found at her personal shop here. I decided to feature The Long Road Home Collection because at a 75% discount, I know you will want to grab it while it’s on sale. As with all of Snickerdoodle Designs’ collections, this one is timeless and looks as current now as it did when it was first released.
A Long Way from Home by 6grand uses only items from the collection. Even the gorgeous photo is actually a postcard you will find in the elements folder. It looks to me like she blended several papers to create her background. Adding the snow scatter and sparkles really makes the layout shine. The curvy ribbon points the eye to the center of the layout. It was creative of her to leave the ribbon without a shadow to make it look more like a swirl or a scatter working seamlessly with the other sparkly elements.
I like the perpendicular design in The Long Road Home by scrappinrae. The slight angle to the stacked papers and frame adds interest. I like the way she tucked both the doily and the cluster between the papers. Her main cluster is so pretty and I especially like the pop of red in the berry branch. The curve of the lace border combines perfectly with the straight edges of the paper strips.
Here’s layout by Jeanette S also created using just the kit. The adorable photo of the puppies is actually ephemera found in the element folder. I like the angled and stacked papers. The artist was able to create a holiday page with this kit by combining the pine branches, ribbon, berries and star sparkle, showing off the versatility of the collection.
The heritage layout by PattyB using the collection is stunning. The white paper with its subtle design is the perfect foundation for the page. The photo is precious and the cluster she created surrounding the photo is amazing. I really like the way she chose only a few colors to add to her cluster maintaining the nearly monochromatic look to the layout.
I trust you have been inspired by these layouts and I think you will agree that this collection is timeless. I believe it’s also perfect for the upcoming holidays, since the festivities may be the only opportunity for many people to actually travel “the long road home”. Thanks for reading my post and I hope you have a great week!
